Hi friends. Me again with another spring hop full of delicious spring recipes. Make sure you check them out at the end of this post.
I wanted to create something pretty and representative of spring so I made this pretty painted buttercream carrot cake.
Well, the top cake is carrot, the bottom one is a dummy cake. But don’t tell anyone.
I fell in love with buttercream painted cakes a couple of years ago when I tried for the first time HERE.
It is very similar to painting with a palette knife.
I used store bought buttercream for this but you can of course make your own. I mixed various pinks and greens on a plate and tried to record the process for you but I was out of frame and it didn’t work out very well…:( But you can basically follow the directions HERE.
It’s exactly the same.
The good thing about this process is that it does not have to be perfect. Most of the abstract cakes you see online are beautifully imperfect.
I also used some food coloring gel and almond extract to paint some of the areas of the cake. You can follow the instructions HERE. So cute right?
