I saw the light of the sun peak through my window this morning, but it was later than usual.
I breathed the morning air, but it felt cooler than yesterday.
I listened for the birds, but instead heard geese heading south.
I wore a t-shirt, but had to seek refuge from the coolness in a sweater.
I can’t deny that summer is leaving us and as autumn and its glorious fiery canvas approaches, I sit and reminisce on summer’s sweet smile.
So before we draw out our welcome mats for fall, here is to summer! For allowing us to feel the sun and all its glorious warmth, for letting us shed layers of heavy coats, for letting our toes feel the sands soft touch, for drawing us a warm bath in our lakes, for the beautiful colourful paintings of flowers in the meadows, for serene sunsets under pink and orange skies. We will miss you and long for your return…..
