"One creates from nothing. If you try to create from something you're just changing something. So in order to create something you first have to be able to create nothing. " Werner Erhard
I'm so happy that you are here, and hope you are having a great week thus far. I am often in awe of time and how fast it slips out of my hands.
This week in particular is flying by. It feels like I have a million things to do and my mind is spinning with ideas.
You see, we are preparing for a very important celebration. It's my nephew's 1st birthday party this Sunday and he is the baby of the family. We we are hard at work pasting, gluing, sewing, sculpting and just busily spinning to get things ready.
My sister in law decided she wanted a circus theme which is perfect for the little angel since he makes our lives so full of joy.
They say the circus is synonymous with fun. I say 'they say' because even though I don't recall ever going to the circus, my mom swears that we have and I had fun. I guess I was just too young to remember, but I'll take her word for it.
I am however, a little ambivalent about the circus when it comes to the animals. As they are the stars of the show, I want to believe they are well cared for, but I'm still that tree hugger that wishes that every animal could run free in its natural habitat and not be in danger of being hurt, or even worse, extinct.
What do you think? Do you think they're ok? I hope so.
I know this little elephant is just fine. He is going to be the cake topper along with some other animals I have yet to make. I made him of fondant, which is a little trickier to sculpt with than clay so it takes me a little longer. The 'stiching' on his little blanket are individual white sprinkles.
Just another little peek into my creative process - I hope you enjoyed it.
Don't you agree that this picture is the perfect way to say bye for now....
Have a great rest of the week...can't wait to see you again!
Also in bloom...
