CAFE and a paint brush....a gift idea.

Hello!  I hope you're having a great weekend.

 We're getting ready for a Disney movie marathon this evening, 

but before the first film, I thought I would share a quick little gift idea...

If you ever go to Mexico and buy a large bag of coffee, only to realize you have A LOT of people you wish you had brought a little something back for....

 ...or you simply need a cute little favour....:)

During our vacation. I became accustomed to having a warm cup of Cafe con Leche with breakfast.  It brought me back to my childhood when I would always want to dip my buttered toast into my grandma's (abuelita's) cafe con leche. 


It wasn't until I got home that I realized I should have bought a bag of coffee from the vendors to make sweet little gift bags for my family :( (next time).

I  used a little burlap bag from my Canvas Corp goodie box and painted the word CAFE with regular acrylic paint.  I then placed the coffee beans in a little plastic bag which went right into the burlap bag.  The bag smells so delicious...:)


Did you know that after opening a bag of fresh coffee beans, it is best to place the bag into a container and keep refrigerated?  huh.

The tag is a cut out of one of the images from the new Canvas Corp Coffee Stamps paper.  Cute, no?


The writing and drawings are from my sketch book and were painted using coffee.

It might seem like an unusual medium, 

but it has been used by artist for years...

I am working on a very special assignment that I hope to share with you in the future, but in the meantime, I will continue aspiring to inspire...

Back from paradise....

Hello my sweet friends.  I hope you have all kept well.

Just wanted to show you a few pictures from our little vacation.

Don't worry, there aren't that many. Only a few out of hundreds we took.

Here we are at the airport at 4:00am....yawn! 

After a looong plane ride, this is 
an aerial view of our destination...

Getting ready to land. 

While Bella is having a great time with 
the descent, I'm holding on to dear life...

That same afternoon, we took 
our first walk along the beach...

My little sister came along with us...

The kiddies swam day and night...

We ate Paella by the sea side...yumm

There was not a cloud in the 

sky during our entire stay...

 the beach...

 pool side...

the pools...

 We traveled to the city where the 
colours are vibrant and beautiful...

 We rode a beautiful private boat...meet Virginia

We visited the various bays, saw dolphins, 
manta rays, sea turtles and all sorts of wild life.

We did some deep sea fishing and snorkeling...

And we swam in the Pacific ocean...

Some of us relaxed and enjoyed the ride...

 ...while some of us slept and felt a little sea sick...:( 

We took a lot of pictures...

nope...

almost...

 there.

We had a wonderful time and even though I miss the warm sunny weather and the beautiful sandy beach, I am glad to be home and eager to do some crafting.  I had planned on bringing my sketch book but forgot it last minute and so I can't wait to do some painting.  


I have a lot of catching up to do and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have been up to.

Keepsake Shadow box tray....

Hello everyone ! I hope you are having a great week. 

Before we left I was in a 'vacation frame of mind' and so here is yet another beachy craft that I hope you will love as much as I do.  

I believe that memories are built and kept in your heart but sometimes a little keepsake of a special time and place brings right back every time you see it.

 Like many of you, we like to bring beautiful shells of places where we have been and I knew this time would not be different. But I wanted to display them in a special way...

I used this little Shadowbox tray from Canvas Corp 

who now carry 7gypsies products. 

It's beautifully finished with black paint and  little distressed edges.

 But it didn't fit my decor or the theme. So I used some acrylic paint to change it up. 

I then cut and pasted a dictionary page and glued some shells .  

So easy and so pretty.

I did something similar last year for my summer mantel  using regular picture frames. But I like the various compartments of the shadow box.
