A peek into my sketchbook....

It's been a while since I shared my sketchbook.  Truth is, I haven't been sketching or painting as much as I would like as it seems there is always something else to do...

Days pass by and one seems to be functioning in auto pilot mode, not realizing how low in the priority list certain things are.  It's not until you make a conscious effort to think about it that you realize some things could be placed a little higher on that list - especially those things that bring you true joy...

I have spoken of the freedom and escape art brings me. Today I needed to be comforted by my paint brush and sketchbook.  When I opened my sketchbook these beautiful Ginkgo leaves fell out of it. I had forgotten that I had pressed them between the pages after a trip to the playground with the kiddies...
The Ginkgo leaves are my favourite leaves as they remind me of my oldest son who  at the young age of 4, taught me that the Ginkgo tree is one of the oldest trees on earth and were around during the time of the dinosaurs. The kiddies and I used to spend hours at the local library and at the entrance was a beautiful Ginkgo tree. We would stop and admire it every time we went and would collect fallen leaves from the ground. What a coincidence that my oldest son is on school trip this week and my missing him is what made me seek my sketchbook...

I hope that you are having a great day. Please don't forget to come back later on tonight for our Happy Hour Party. It makes me so happy to see you back every week.

See you tonight...xo

much love,
Lucy

  1. Your words ring true... I feel as though I have been on auto pilot forever. Between raising teens, homeschooling, church activities and running a family business there never seems to be time to do what brings me joy. My "priority" list is gargantuan, it seems I am always adding to it. Today, however, I am going to flip it upside down and do what brings me joy. Thank you for the inspiration, it is going to be a great day! As soon as we finish school.....

  4. Hi Lucy!
Sure love when you give us peeks inside your sketchbook! Absolutely love seeing what you do there! The leaves are so cool. I reallly need to practice my painting! I have dabbled here and there, but have never kept up with it, so not great progress. You're such an inspiration!
Sure have missed visiting! Now that shop sales have leveled off a bit, I can visit more!

Hope you're having a lovely week! I'm off to see what else I have missed!
    Hugs,
    Becky

  8. I wish Lucy, that I had your personal email address, so that I could encourage you in an area that I view from the outside as one that you could use some encouragement in. :) lol A little vague, but not necessarily something for me to share/say on your blog.
You are such a dear and sweet lady.
