Once upon a time, there were four little Rabbits, and their names were — Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. They lived with their Mother in a sand-bank, underneath the root of a very big tree.

Oh Ms. Beatrix Potter. So talented, yet she was quoted as saying, "I must draw, however poor the result....I will do something sooner or later." Can you believe she would say those words?
There is something so tender, comforting and appealing about Ms Beatrix's art...
But I wanted to try draw him for a dear friend who loves books and little Peter Rabbit has a special place in her heart...
My mother-in-law gave Bella the entire set of Beatrix Potter books. She had come across them one day at a garage sale and all of the books were there except the Tale of Peter Rabbit. :( (I don't blame them for keeping it.)
Do you know the story of Peter Rabbit? It's here if would like to read it.
Do you have a favourite childhood story? My favourite is Hansel and Gretel. I remember my brother and I asking our dad to read us that story over and over again, but instead of Hansel and Gretel, he would replace their names with ours. I was always so happy to be able to save my brother from the wicked old lady. How precious to have those memories in my heart and be able to reminisce about my childhood.
Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of time with me. I never get tired of having you here.
Sending you warm hugs,
Lucyps - the ranunculus tutorial is ready and I will be posting it before the end of the weekend :)
Sharing here; thank you for hosting.

ReplyDeleteThat is just a fabulous rendition of Peter Rabbit- I love it! IWhat a clever way to do it and you did a marvelous job! I have always loved Peter Rabbit too-it was one of my favorites when I was a child. I loved the story of Rose Red as much as Peter Rabbit. I read all of those stories to my kids when they were little.
ReplyDeleteI read Hansel and Gretel to SweetCheeks a while back and I thought she was going to have a heart attack...she started crying. Guess that will not be on our "go to bed" list! xxoo Diana
I love this! Did you use watercolor for it?

You did a fantastic job of drawing Peter Rabbit! And I love the idea of putting him on a dictionary page.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job, Lucy. It's so touching. I have cherished the stories since my oldest (almost 20 now, eek!) was young. We have the books. Have you seen the stories on VHS/DVD through the BBC? My 17 year old girls STILL love them. xox

ReplyDeleteYou painted that? It's incredible. I was reading to find out what you printed it from...guess I don't have to worry about duplicating that! (unless she did a book about stick figures that I don't know....) Well done!

I found this late but I so love Beatrix Potter books. I have such fond memories of sitting in our elementary library right in front of her section and reading the little books. Ah!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! I can totally see a kid's room with a set of prints like these! Thanks for the inspiration.
